Herbal Cellulite Body Wraps - Easy Recipes
The area is then covered with thermal clay and/or seaweed, then wrapped with cloth. Salon clients are led to believe this procedure will eliminate toxins and excess fluid which supposedly cause cellulite.
Promises regarding the effectiveness of these expensive salon body wraps are misleading, to say the least. Cellulite is simply the common term given to ordinary body fat cells that appear beneath the skin and cause a dimpled, orange peel appearance. The only way to reduce body fat is to burn more calories than you consume through diet and exercise.
Cellulite wraps only appear to eliminate cellulite because they elevate the temperature of the body, which causes sweating and the elimination of excess fluids in treated areas. This can affect a temporary loss of inches in the thighs, hips and buttocks as well as a significant reduction in the appearance of cellulite. Notice the word temporary.
If you are looking for a quick way to temporarily reduce the appearance of cellulite on your thighs, hips, stomach, and buttocks so that you can look your best for a special occasion, then there is certainly no harm in trying a cellulite body wrap.
Body wraps have been used for centuries for their health and beauty benefits including cellulite treatment, and they are a fabulous way to relax and pamper yourself. And the good news if you donít need to pay a fortune at an expensive salon to enjoy the benefits of a body wrap either. You can do your own homemade cellulite wrap so long as you don't mind putting in a little time and effort.
One simple method is to spread warm coffee grounds on your cellulite areas and wrap with moist seaweed. Next, cover the area with cellophane or other plastic wrap for 20 to 30 minutes. Remove the wrap, and gently massage the area while rinsing with warm water. You will find that its best to apply this treatment in the shower or bath tub for easy cleanup.
For more of a salon experience, you may want to set up a room of your home as a day spa. Warm it adequately so that you can lay down comfortably to enjoy your cellulite wrap. You will need two plastic drop sheets of the kind used by interior painters. These can be inexpensively purchased at any retail home or hardware store.
Layer blankets on your bed or the floor, which ever you prefer, and cover with one of the drop sheets. Use the other drop sheet to cover an area nearby where you will set your bucket of topical ingredients to be applied before you wrap with cloth. Light some candles, burn essential oils and play some soft, relaxing music to set the mood.
Take a warm bath or shower beforehand to open your skin's pores and increase blood circulation. Drink plenty of water before, during and after the cellulite wrap to keep yourself hydrated and aid in flushing toxins from your system.
Keep in mind the cloth you use may be difficult to clean due to the clay and seaweed so gather 6 to 8 old bath towels to wrap yourself with. You will also need some thermal clay -- which you can obtain at a local health and beauty store or from one of many online suppliers. The type of clay you get will depend on your skin type. Bentonite will absorb excess oils from oily skin. Pink kaolin is best for sensitive skin, while yellow kaolin is fine for normal skin. While thermal clay isn't an absolute necessity for cellulite wraps, it is highly recommend if you're after noticeable results.
